Smart energy focuses on powerful, sustainable renewable energy sources that promote greater eco-friendliness while driving down costs. The Smart Energy Lab hosts the Tech Square Microgrid which will not only provide clean power to Midtown, but it will also serve as a living laboratory in which Georgia Tech, industry, and government researchers will work collaboratively to create the next generation of clean energy solutions.

George F. Baker III (aka GFB3) is an Atlanta-based artist who uses his work to employ a playful, child-like spirit to engage the inner child in us all. He is currently an active muralist and serves as Creative Director of Foster, a studio collective that strives to strip the fear around play.

His mural, located at the new Smart Energy Lab by Georgia Power and Georgia Tech, is a symbol of the excitement and possibilities of smart energy for our future. It serves as a barrier for the microgrid and provides educational materials, demonstrating the ways that art can convey complex and revolutionary innovations.
