Nicole Merizalde, or "ZaldePaints", is a Muralist based in Atlanta, Georgia. Born to a Colombian father and Greek-American mother, her culturally diverse upbringing heavily influences her work. Her style combines both realism and graphic elements to create a fusion that transports you to a dreamy, surrealistic world. She aims to represent the ever-growing population of "hyphenated Americans" and the beauty in being culturally and ethnically multifaceted.
This mural features silhouettes of components of both theatre and the Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center as a whole. References include costume design, set design, singing, acting, lighting, and gallery artwork, and acknowledges the center’s history by including buildings in the background that represent where the first meetings took place in the 1970’s while conceptualizing Stage Door Theatre, and later Spruill Arts Center.
