Kevin Bongang is a man of many talents and few words, rather choosing to allow his art to speak for itself. Born in Cameroon, West Africa and raised in Savannah, Georgia. Bongang majored in Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). He acquired his B.F.A. and M.F.A. (Illustration) in 2009 and 2013, respectively. There, he was able to hone in on his signature style awash in bold fun colors, swirling lines and whimsical imagery. The result is organic, functional and cohesive pieces of art. These days you can find him painting murals, creating graphics for commercial brands and engaging in his local community that he loves. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Britney, who also serves as his art representative.
This mural was designed with a theme of connectivity and highlighting Atlanta's lush nature and city life. Bongang wanted the mural to activate the walls and create an environment where memorable moments can be captured with friends and colleagues alike—a space that connects, inspires and happiness when one is around the art. It reminds the viewer they’re in Atlanta, a bustling city, always growing, moving and full of life. Most importantly there is a natural flow to all this chaos. The city is all about building and maintaining connections as we all aspire to pursue our dreams whether artistic or corporate. The Atlanta cityscape is highlighted in the mural, along with road elements to portray the busy city and add movement to the painting.
“I wanted the mural to feel energetic and layered. The more you spend time with it, the more you discover. Atlanta literally grows on you, hence all the foliage and greenery. ”
